In 2008, I reconnected with Eliott Brunet, an elementary school buddy i had lost touch with after moving with my family to another neighborhood of Paris 8 years earlier. Despite us spending our teenage years in different environnements, we happened to have developed a common interest in film, photography and music. Around the same time, I was hanging with a lot of young cats making music in my neighborhood. I especially became very close with two amazing young beatmakers Hillel and Loubensky. Our shared passion for John Coltrane, Dilla, MF Doom & Madlib made them let me in their group. I was so impressed with Loubensky’s skills that I shared the news with Eliott who had met equally impressive drummer/producer Benjamin Benamou in College. It was obvious to us that they had to link up. By the end of 2009, Loubensky, Benjamin and trumpeter/producer Tony Lecorne were forming The Hop, gathering around them 9 other musicians for some Hip-hop/Jazz/Soul adventures. Once again, I was part of the trip, playing the Groovebox and extra percussions. This was my first experience in making/performing music professionnally. We’ve played in venues all over the city, traveled abroad to perform, spent time in the studio to build a self titled EP which is available on the market. I am forever grateful to have been part of this ride alongside some incredible artists I remain a fan of. It definitely inspired me to keep going with music even if my path went a slightly different way.
