In late 2018, I was approached by the homie David Stora to join a collective he was building to shed some light on the local Phonk scene. If you don’t know Phonk yet, it’s a Hip-hop subgenre which took its roots in 90s Memphis and Houston Rap and has developed mostly on Soundcloud as lo-fi movement. The idea behind La Phonkerie is to create a platform to centralize the local energy of this niche and of course connect with people involved in the development of Phonk all over the world. As a member of the staff, I’ve provided with my skills to help put together events, meetings, live shows, radio shows and music compilations. It’s really gratifying to be part of a project exploring new territories in Hip-hop and showcasing fresh talents.
