This week, I’m very glad to welcome to the show my brother Watsmyname. Watsmyname is a Paris-based DJ which made a name for himself playing room-shaking sets in some of the hottest Hip-hop clubs and parties in town. But just like me, Watsmyname grew up on 90s R&B, Pop, Hip-hop of course which created this fascination for grooves. He’s definitely one of those people who always put me on some crazy music so I feel very grateful to have him on the show. Shouts out to my man Mewtip who was also hanging out with us. I had the family in the room so I had to sharpen those knives and select some of the finest cuts.

Drummer Yussef Dayes teams up with singer and british beats virtuoso Tom Misch for the first extract of a collaborative album set to be released on the prestigious Blue Note Records label. Just like its name suggest “What Kinda Music” mixes different influences, from the lush strings arrangement and vocals reminiscent of Radiohead, to the frenetic funky drumming evoking Tony Allen. and displays evident chemistry between the pair.

BAM originator Nicholas Payton celebrates Valentine’s Day with the nostalgic “1983 (We Got Love)”, a smooth 80s R&B inspired jam with a signature New Orleans bounce. Fazer’s guitarist Paul Brändle releases the second single of off his first album Solo, out on Squama. LA’s own Sam Gendel delivers a screwed up version of Bill Strayhorn and Duke Ellington‘s standard “Satin Doll”. And of course, so much more heat on the show.
